Can I just buy him a helmet?

Conan's answer to this question was a resounding no. I am going to have to figure something out or I am going to develop some sort of condition. Christopher is pulling up on everything now. Of course he chooses the wobbliest things to use for balance. I try to direct him to our more stable furniture- like the couch or arm chair. He likes the jumperoo that shakes violently every time you barely touch it, or the ottoman with wheels. I'd even be okay with that, except he thinks he can balance perfectly. He gets up on his knees and just lets go, sometimes catching himself, sometimes not. I read that they should be fine as long as they cry after they fall, otherwise you have to worry about a concussion. A concussion?! He's only 8 months old. I should not be having to worry about this until at least preschool! I put in a CD of nursery rhymes this morning and he pulled up all the way to his feet to see what was going on. I'm sure this is just going to get more scary! I just think I would feel better if he had a little protection for his head. I might have to revisit that helmet idea with Conan : ).

Only in NYC

Before

Christopher playing with the box to his new crib.

Conan always says that if you can't get something in this city, you can't get it any where. We found out how true this is last week. I couldn't love Christopher more, but he was a terrible roommate. We decided we had to get him out of our room and needed a two bedroom apartment. On Monday we called around and on Wednesday we got a pressurized wall put up in the living room to give the LG his own space. It took them about 8 hours from start to finish. Now we have an extra room with a wall that looks just like normal. Christopher is sleeping so much better. So are we!

Weekend Fun

The weather warmed up a little so the three of us started back into New York tourist mode. The weekend before last we went to see the Statue of Liberty. We took the Staten Island ferry and got a great view. Little Guy could only make it to Staten Island and then needed to eat the rest of the way back. Just adding new spots to the list of "Places I nursed you in public" list.

When we were walking by Battery Park we noticed they had baby swings. We had been wanting to try Little Guy on the swings in our complex for a while, but it's been too cold. We figured it would be fun to have his very first time to swing be in Battery Park, so we gave it a try. He seemed to like it. I think we may have had more fun taking turns swinging him than he did actually swinging. I forgot how much fun the park is, especially after we'd been cooped up in our apartment all winter.

These are our Valentine's Day pictures (I know they're a little late). We got him one of those toys that you put the different shaped blocks through the matching holes on the top. Christopher outsmarted us on this one. He just took the top off and started putting the blocks inside without having to match them up. Every time I try to put the lid on and show him how to do it he took it off, like "Mom, you are making this too hard on yourself?" He likes to bang the blocks around, so I think the toy was a success. His very favorite things to play with right now are the tiny specks of dirt on the ground that I did a bad job sweeping. Gross.
And... these are just some cute pictures of him playing with his football. He's a natural. I wonder where he got that from?

25 Things

Everyone's facebook posts had me thinking in lists, so I took it upon myself to make one for Christopher...

1. Last week was a big week, on Sunday I said Ma Ma for the first time. On Wednesday I officially crawled and clapped.
2. No matter how bad of a mood I'm in, pretending to eat my toes will always be hilarious.
3. Whatever that is in your hand... I want it.
4. Dad, hold me on your shoulders again, Mom's look when you do that is too funny.
5. Why do you even bother putting socks on me, you know I'm just going to take them off immediately.

6. Same goes for hats.
7. Mom, I don't care that you're a dietitian, I'm not eating green vegetables.
8. I'd really appreciate it if you would just hold me all night long. That crib is totally overrated.
9. Don't even get me started on naps.
10. I just look bald, I've got a whole head of hair I'm hiding up here.

11. I'm rubbing my eyes because I want to play more, not because I'm exhausted.
12. Don't worry about those fancy baby toys, I'd be much happier if you would just let me play with that window screen pull all day long.

13. My new favorite way to explore is hitting everything. Putting them in my mouth is a close second.
14. Mom, don't you think that when it's 30 degrees outside and I'm sweating you've over done it with the layers.
15. Favorite hobbies: charming the old ladies in the elevator with my gummy grin, touching things I'm not supposed to, trying to fit my entire hand in my mouth, all things related to milk.
16. Enough with the classical, get me some Akon in here!
17. Could you just be ready with about 6 spoons for my meals- you know where they're going.
18. Do you really need 10 pictures of me in the exact same position. Enough with the flash.
19. Make all of the homemade, organic baby food you want- I'm going to throw it on the ground and reach for your pizza instead.
20. No. more. vitamins.
21. Mom, we all know thumbkin is behind your back- find a new song!
22. Dad, the more raspberries the better.23. Did you really think I was going to be the only one getting wet during my bath?
24. Mom, seriously, do you have to sniff my diaper in public to see if I pooped? What if the other babies see.
25. I really think sweet potato is my color. Don't you?
